The Beginnings…

Pat Scalzi started trading as City Fruit & Vegetable Supply in November 1972.  In the beginning, Pat mainly supplied to local greengrocers.  Within a short time, City Fruit & Vegetable Supply began supplying fresh fruit and vegetables to many hotels and restaurants in and around Adelaide.  As their reputation for supplying quality fresh produce began to spread, City Fruit & Vegetable Supply increased their business and started to supply to supermarkets.

First Sprouts…

Initially, City Fruit & Vegetable Supply was located within the East End Markets in Adelaide, South Australia.

By 1988, City Fruit & Vegetable Supply moved to Payneham.  However, this move was short-lived, as by 1992 demand for their products had become so great that the business was expanded and new premises were sought in the Pooraka Produce Markets, which is where City Fruit & Vegetable Supply are still situated.

In 1993, Pat Scalzi’s son Fab joined the company and is now the Director of City Fruit & Vegetable Supply.

From humble beginnings, City Fruit & Vegetable Supply has now grown and supplies over 100 supermarkets and 150 hospitality outlets within South Australia, the Northern Territory, New South Wales and Victoria.
